MONEY & HAPPINESS

Do you think Money can buy your happiness? The answer is yes, money does buy your happiness, but only if you’re spending it right.

Money is an opportunity for happiness, but it is an opportunity that people routinely squander because the things they think will make them happy often don’t, just like Elizabeth W. Dunn PhD. says, an associate professor of psychology at Canada’s University of British Columbia.

So long as you spend it on the right things. It turns out that one of the most popular clichés that money can’t buy happiness—may not be true. People who spent more money on purchases that lined up with their personality traits were happiest, new research from Cambridge University has found. The researchers found, is not how much cash you have. It’s what you do with the money you have. They found that people who spent more money on purchases that matched their personality were happier with spending in the right way mattering more than total income or spending.

Findings suggest that spending money on products that help us express who we are as individuals could turn out to be as important to our well-being as finding the right job, the right neighborhood or even the right friends and partners.

The researchers note that their study shows the importance of spending money in a manner that matches personality type. “Finding the right products to maintain and enhance one’s preferred lifestyle could turn out to be as important to well-being as finding the right job, the right neighborhood, or even the right friends and partners,” they write.

People should stop worrying too much about making more and more money and start asking themselves how they can use the money they have in a way that benefits their happiness.

And the last word is money can buy happiness, if you know how to use it. So be wise with your money. Enjoy!

Quotes:

“Too many people spend money they earned to buy things they don’t want, to impress people that they don’t like.” –Will Rogers
